With over eight years of dedicated experience in the emergency management field, Anika currently serves as the Manager of Emergency Preparedness at Porter Airlines Inc. In this role, Anika is instrumental in advancing the airline's emergency response capabilities. As Porter Airlines expands from a regional carrier to a significant player with destinations across Canada and the US, Anika is working towards tailoring emergency response plans to meet the unique needs of each station and airport authorities.

Prior to joining Porter Airlines, Anika was the Manager of Business Resilience and Emergency Planning at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). There, Anika was crucial in developing and implementing strategies to manage incidents and operational disruptions. A notable achievement was leading the creation of YVR's Incident Management Team, ensuring a coordinated and effective response during irregular operations.

Anika also played a key role in building the business continuity program at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Collaborating with a skilled team, Anika developed a comprehensive business continuity framework, including risk assessments, business impact assessments, plan templates, exercises, and training.

Earlier in their career, Anika gained valuable experience at the Ontario Public Service’s Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Over five years, Anika advanced to an advisor role, managing the Continuity of Operations portfolio and supporting the ministry’s response initiatives.

Anika holds a Master’s degree in Disaster and Emergency Management, a Professional Certificate in Emergency Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, all from York University. She also possess an Associate Business Continuity Professional accreditation, a Teaching Effectiveness Certification from Humber College and have completed training through the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Anika's extensive background and expertise in emergency management provide a solid foundation for offering valuable insights and strategies in the field of emergency preparedness and business resilience.
