Dr. Shannon Wagner is Vice President Research for Thompson Rivers University (TRU), located in the heart of British Columbia.  One of Canada’s top-50 research universities, TRU is a national leader in wildfire science, with world-renowned experts working in a variety of critical areas including wildfire behaviour, landscape fire modelling, and ecosystem changes resulting from wildfire.

Dr. Wagner holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Northern British Columbia, where she served as Dean, Faculty of Human and Health Sciences prior to joining TRU. 

Dr. Wagner’s academic career has focused on the mental health impact of critical incident

stress and trauma for public safety personnel.  Her own research includes topics on occupational and organizational mental health, emergency and fire services, and human rights in the workplace.  She has advised on emergency services and workplace trauma throughout her career and is a widely-published author in national and international professional journals.
