DJ Lawrence is an expert in Armed Intruder Response training and drills, Emergency Management, Threat and Risk Assessment, and Security Protection with nearly 30 years in government service and 25 years in the private sector.

He has held key roles in law enforcement, incident command, regional security, and emergency management. DJ led three of the largest active shooter courses held in Canada and several of the largest federal earthquake exercises, training thousands of federal staff, including law enforcement and Canadian Armed Forces personnel and families, and been a federal Incident Commander for 22 years.

In the private sector, his experience includes executive protection, event security, and investigations. He led security teams protecting A List entertainers such as Beyonce, the Ted Talks, ACDC, Lady Gaga, KISS, the Rolling Stones, Snoop Dog, Shania Twain, and Daljit. As a former federal law enforcement officer and intelligence operative, he has firsthand experience working in sensitive and high-risk situations. DJ also volunteers in law enforcement and emergency management, leading deployments and teaching preparedness to many organizations. He serves as a volunteer hostage with a major police departments ERT and been in dozens of ERT training scenarios and debriefs.

DJ received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award, a St. John Ambulance national lifesaving award, high level recognition for his leadership developing active shooter programs and drills for a federal department, the Chiefs Distinguished Service Award for leading the Odd Squad gala volunteers for 15 years for Vancouver Police, and the CBSA Assistant Commissioners Award for conceiving of and leading work to donate 10,000 retired uniform items to those in need in Kosovo and Turkey. He has twice been part of Tabitha Foundation house building teams in Cambodia, with his team building 90 homes there last year.

His education includes a BA, Canada Task Force One Heavy Rescue training, Tactical First Aid, ICS 300, many CBRNE courses, Violence Risk Assessment, Counter-Terrorism, and Intelligence Officer training.
