Brittany Seibert is the Emergency Manager for the Central Okanagan Regional Emergency Program. Residing in Kelowna, BC, situated on the unceded, traditional territory of the Sylix People in the Okanagan Nation, Brittany works to bring a comprehensive and holistic approach to delivering the four pillars of emergency management within the regional program. She fully believes that innovation and partnerships are key cornerstones to solving the complex issues surrounding emergency management, thus bringing about an increase in resiliency for Canadian communities. This includes active engagement from all levels of government, partnerships with First Nations and integration of their traditional knowledge, and participation from the public. In alignment with the Sendai Framework, she also believes there is a need for a paradigm shift from hazard-centric to vulnerability inclusive. Her fifteen-plus years of progressive experience in emergency services has allowed her to work in various organization spanning from private to various levels of government, and as well as international sectors. In addition to her professional endeavours, Brittany is also pursuing her education in completing her Master’s Degree in Disaster and Emergency Management at Royal Roads University.
