Robert Brown has been a champion of community well being and safety throughout his career. He earned his PhD in Neuroscience from Memorial University in 2002 and continued his research on the impact of addictions on brain physiology at UCLA, first as a post-doc and then as a research associate. He returned to Canada in 2009 to join the public sector. Since then he has served in a number of roles across government sectors including managing a regional portfolio of Mental Wellness and Community Development programs for Health Canada, Knowledge Management and Program Evaluation for Alberta Health Services, and Emergency Management and Planning with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency. His work is marked by commitments to data driven approaches and participatory decision making. He is an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Regina.
