After 8 years in Emergency Management focused on personal preparedness programming, Rebecca is uniquely positioned to help community leaders build large-scale resilience at the individual and community level.
Using her Sociology Degree from the University of Alberta and Public Relations Diploma from the University of Victoria, Rebecca builds organizational resilience through strategic disaster risk reduction education.
Rebecca has 20+ years of public sector experience in stakeholder relations, public education, strategic planning, and program development. She has extensive public speaking experience, including keynote speaking at national conferences, media interviews for television, radio, and podcast, and facilitated hundreds of learning sessions for a variety of audiences.
During large-scale events Rebecca has filled operational roles as Logistics Section Chief, Deputy Operations and Lead Information Officer. She has been involved in the coordination and response for events such as the Alberta Spring Wildfires (2023), Covid-19 pandemic (2020), Fort McMurray flood (2020), Chuckegg Creek wildfire (2019), Kenow wildfire (2017) and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo wildfire (2016).
