Danielle Trudeau is the founder and Executive Director of TopShelf Emergency Management. Danielle has a 15-year career bringing calm to chaotic and crisis situations. Spending the first 8 years with the Canadian Red Cross and the Federation for Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Danielle lead disaster management training for over 1500+ personnel across Western Canada, worked in areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and supported developing programs in emergencies in Haiti, Djibouti, Gambia, and Bangladesh. Once returning to Canada, Danielle supported teams ranging from senior leaders to operational staff to design and develop emergency management and business continuity programs in areas including program audits, planning, preparedness, mitigation training, exercises and continual maintenance. Through her career, Danielle has worked developing and enhancing emergency management programs with companies such as the National Capital Commission, the Canadian Red Cross, the International Federation for Red Cross and Red Crescent, the Vancouver Airport Authority, BGIS, the Vancouver Port Authority, and Toronto Hydro. Danielle has proven to be a successful responder and team leader through events such as the Manitoba Floods 2010, Saskatchewan Floods 2010 & 2011, Slave Lake Fires in 2011, MV SunSea Migrant Response 2011, Southern Alberta Floods 2013, the 2020 Hurricane season, COVID-19 Response 2020/2021, BC Wildfires 2021, Yukon’s 2022 Unprecedented flood, fire and landslide season, Yukon’s response to Omicron 2022, the Roger’s Outage, and many others. In 2022, while serving as the Director of Emergency Measures for the Territory of Yukon, Danielle led Yukon through their largest response season, was lead for the COVID-19 Assistant Deputy Ministers coordination group, and served as Co-Chair for both the Senior Officials Responsible for Emergency Management (SOREM) and the Canadian Council for Emergency Management Organization (CCEMO).
Danielle holds a Master of Disaster Management from Copenhagen University, a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Law and French from Carleton University, and a Certificate of Change Management from the University of Calgary. Danielle maintains designations as a Certified Emergency Manager from the International Association of Emergency Management (since 2013) and as an Associate Business Continuity Professional from the Disaster Recovery Institute (since 2016).
Danielle is the winner of the 2023 IAEM Emergency Management Merit Award. In her spare time, Danielle enjoys spending time outside, meeting new people, football, pottery and being on the golf course.
